(42) EBCDIC

EBCDIC

Ø EBCDIC stands for extended binary coded decimal interchange code.
Ø The major problem of BCD is that only 64(26) different character in it.
Ø This is not sufficient for providing decimal number (10), lower case letter (28), upper case letter (28) and other special character (28).
Ø Hence BCD code stand 6-Bit code to 8-Bit code.
Ø The added 2-Bit are used at additional zone bit expend in the zone to four byte this is called decimal interchange code.
Ø In this code 28=256 different character can be represented.
